Introduction
The Sandbelt Invitational is part of the Geoff Ogilvy Foundation’s mission to bring together the best players in Victoria and around the country with the aim of the older and more experienced players passing down their knowledge to coming players. This tradition of Australian golf harks back to the great Norman Von Nida mentoring the young Peter Thomson who, in turn helped generations of neophyte Australian golfers.
The field will be truly mixed – one made up of men and women, young and older, professionals and amateurs. We are grateful for the generosity of four clubs who readily agreed to be a part of an event showcasing four of Melbourne’s world-renowned Sandbelt courses.

“This has been a dream of ours for some time and we hope it will grow into one of the most significant tournaments in the country”
– Geoff Ogilvy

Day 1 –
Kingston Heath
20th December 2021
Kingston Heath is one of the game’s remarkable courses. Carnoustie man Dan Soutar laid out the holes and in 1926 Alister MacKenzie refined it further but adding his brilliant bunkers scheme – and redoing Soutar’s 15th into one of the great short holes.
It’s not an expansive property but the sum of its parts – the routing, the management of the vegetation, the thought-provoking strategies, the condition and the quality of the man-made construction make for enduringly interesting golf.
Day 2 –
Royal Melbourne
West Course
21st December 2021
Royal Melbourne is recognised as one of the leading golf clubs in Australia with two of the pre-eminent golf courses in the world. Our courses are maintained consistent with the principles espoused by Dr Alister MacKenzie. The generous fairways and fast and firm conditions provide good challenges for both low and high handicap players.

Day 3 –
Yarra Yarra
Day 4 –
Peninsula Kingswood
South Course
23rd December 2021
Peninsula Kingswood Country Golf Club was born from the merging of Kingswood Golf Club and Peninsula Country Golf Club in September 2013. This merger provided a platform for Peninsula Kingswood to create a first-class Private Club that offers the very best in Sandbelt over two championship courses.
